  • Read nutrition lebels. Almost all packaged foods contain sodium. Every time you prepare or eat a packaged food, know how much sodium is in one serving. Avoid pickles, papad and extra salt preparations.

  • Keep a sodium diary. You may be surprised at how much sodium you consume each day and the diary will help you decide which foods to decrease or eliminate.

  • Use spices and herbs instead of salt to season the food you prepare at home.

  • Eat more fruits, vegetables, grains, and low-fat dairy foods. Drink warm water as often as you can.

  • If you consume alcohol at all, instead consume chaach [toned lassi]. Every time you feet thirsty drink a glass of water and thenafter drink chaach, immediately.
Diat:
  • Avoid meat, eggs and salt.
  • Reduce protein intake

  • Don't worry be happy - listen to jokes and view comedy programmes
  • Walk or spot jogging for 10-15 minutes a day
